Blogging is pretty good, although it has it's cons. You have to be approved for Google Adsense, which can sometimes be hard, you have to have a good niche that can get traffic, and KEEP traffic daily/weekly/monthly. Plus with the amount of people using Adblock these days it's making it harder to make any profit from anything Adsense related. Which sucks, because that also hurts small YouTubers. In my opinion out of everything I've ever done online to make money (CPA, PTC, Auto-Surf, Blogging, YouTubing, Affiliate Marketing, Buying/Selling, Being Paid to advertise) my favorite and the most promising one is affiliate marketing, it takes a few bucks to join in most cases, you break even on your first referral, you make profit from there on out, it's a residual income that constantly goes up if you work with your team, you help your downline become successful because when they're successful, you're more successful.

      Have to start...

I think the hardest part isn't setting up the blog, creating a layout, etc. but you need to pick a topic or theme that you can center your blog around and then you have to discipline yourself to write at least everyday if not more to get started. That can be very hard at first, especially if you are working a full time job, have a family, have a to-do list that never ends, etc. But if you can think of at least one topic that you're truly passionate about, always are talking about to others, something you want to pursue, a hobby, etc., then just GET STARTED and WRITE!! I am personally a fan of Blogger. I find it extremely easy to use and setup. :-)

Good luck to all fellow bloggers!!

Successful blogs don't start out as means to generate money.

You could build a blog for the sole purpose of gaining financially - but that won't take you far. Thousands of people do the same thing, they eventually run out of steam and stop.

All the successful blogs began as a means to document an journey, show others how to do something they've accomplished, or to express their honest opinion on a topic or subject. Money should not be the main motivation. A blog should be based on your interests (as the poster above me also stated), if you're interested in what you're posting you'll find it much easier to continue writing, not only so you'll much a lot more to write/talk about. It's not about making money but developing and bettering yourself as an individual.

Get the formula right and money will follow.

          blogger for 10 months

There are a million ways to make money, that's just the problem. It takes a lot of experimenting and finding which sources work for you. There's affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, syndication, sponsorships, and ads. Ads only work for high traffic blogs. I've found that most bloggers make most of their income through affiliate links. Your income source is also dependent on your content. You tube, products, and Etsy are also great ways to start earning!

I do get some earnings from my blogs but not anything remarkable, but then I'm usually busy working my online business that does earn me money so I can't keep up with my blog as much as I'd like.

Just like you, I quit blogging a year ago.
I do not have enough time to promote it and I find it getting harder to write new contents maybe because of decrease on interest into it.

I don't blog for money, because I know I would have to work a LOT harder at it. I blog to help promote my on line business which does make money. I've had a blog for years and even so, while I have viewers I don't have nearly the amount of viewers needed to make any money worth talking about. One of the reasons that when I hear people saying you can make money blogging I question whether they are they only repeating what they have heard or they have experienced it for themselves. It is very easy to tell people ways you heard to make money, it is another thing to have actually made money doing something and then sharing it.

As I said, I sell on line and have for around 12 years at this point. I'm working on writing an ebook about how to get into selling online as it is something I have experience with along with helping newbies with their questions for many years. And yes, I do make money selling. I sure wouldn't have done this for 12 years otherwise. It makes a difference as to whether our bills are paid each money and also provides the funds to fuel my chocolate cravings.

I also try to find other ways to bring in cash without great effort, usually combining other things I'm doing. One thing I do is I am able to have AdSense ads in my ecrater listings that have earned me several $100 over the last few years. However, new people to that program aren't allow to sign up anymore so I'm glad I got in when I did. those checks go straight into my Roth IRA.

For the benefit of others' learning about blogging for money, have you made any money yet after 3 weeks of work?

Now a days it had really become very difficult to enrol your self in the game as you may have the right skill and potential in order to be staying in the game. Most of the time it does really happens that people start blogging without knowing the consequences and not knowing about the material so be realistic and do try to take it as a open source information provider and not as a making money on-line sort of thing and thus in such way your blog might have derive the right and the best general audience.

If you have good blog and you are writing new posts regularly, you can attract better offers than adsense. For example affiliates, JVs. I also recommend you to build mailing list.

They are not instant money - you have to build your assets from ground.

Bloggin for money isn't a good idea I would say if you should have to earn money why not you simply just start up with web application development and you'll get paid according to your skill in it.

the problem with that idea is that many would have no idea how to do what you suggested and have no skill or training in that area.

This is one of the reasons that I really think that people should do their on research for ideas that would be a good fit between them and what they will do. Then if needed come to a forum such as this to see if anyone else is doing it and then they can pick each other's brain.

There are an amazing amount of ways to make money on line, but it can take a while to figure out what you want to do and start making money at it. I've seen mentions of Fiverr so I did a little research on it and was appalled. Some of the jobs that people were willing to do for $4.00 would take the person 4-5 HOURS to accomplish! No way would I be wasting my life working for $1.00 or less in this day and age, so in all things, put your brain in gear before signing up.

I still remember a woman on a frugal forum desperately needing money so she decided to sell her grocery coupons on line. They sold for a rock bottom price, and by the time she had paid eBay fees, PayPal fees and postage she was spending her own money to finish the deal. Not a good way to make money, but she had not looked at everything before leaping and was paying the price. Don't waste you life and time on little to no profit for things you do and especially don't go into the hole to make money.

Most of the money made on fiverr is from upselling. For instance, someone may sell 10 seconds of video for $5 (which the seller gets $4 of) but if you want a longer video it will cost you $40 or $80. Or they will design you a logo, but if you want the high resolution file, which you will need if you want to use it for anything, it's another $20. Also, many of the more time consuming jobs are being done by people located in India, Thailand, and other countries where the US dollar is much more valuable.

The only point I was making was that even 10 seconds of video, takes a whole lot longer than 10 seconds to make, in that you have to set up the video in the first place. For that $4 you may (most likely will) end up working for less than minimum wage. Upselling or not, I saw people (here in the USA) offering to do jobs for an hour for that same $4.00. If you want to make money on line, you need to read the fine print and understand how much of your time will be taken up with these types of jobs.
