I am currently working from home as a web designer. It started out as a hobby in 2002, in 2007 I got a small business running and after 2 years, when I lost my main job, I started working full time. It can surely be done and it's been a great 'ride' for my family and myself.

Freelancing is probably the best way to make money online at this time. There are other ways, but all those will either take a lot of time or money to develop. If you have any special skills you can head over to elance or odesk and register for an account, set your rates and offer your services. Someone is probably looking right now for your skills!

They say in a few years almost 40% of the working population in the U.S. will be work-at-home freelancers, so yeah, it's very possible. The thing is it still takes just as much, if not more work to do so. Depending on your craft, you can probably work for a company from home too.

Ebay
I started as a web designer and then marketed companies. I have now moved into selling items on Ebay and Amazon and have done really well.
I find companies that will dropship and I keep no inventory.
This will be my retirement job.

There are lots of sites where you can look for online jobs as long as you had the skills and expertise like a programmer, web developer, graphic designer, article writer, virtual assistant and etc. All you need to do is sign up on legit freelancing sites like Elance.com, Freelancer.com and Staff.com (hire's full time).
However, even on legit sites there's a chance you'll get scam. You should be careful on choosing your clients. Employers who already had hire different freelancers had established their reputation on the site. This will help you avoid getting scam.

There are a lot of work at home jobs you can do to make money. Most people work at home online these days because of the low start-up capital. If you have any skills you can sell it online.
Think promotional skills, web design, article writing, social media marketing, promo video creation, software creation skills...just to name a few. Visit sites like fiverr, elance, odesk, etc.
Affiliate marketing is a good way to make money from home online but it takes a long time and dedication to make it work. You also need to own a blog and learn how to write unique articles and also learn blog promotional skills. You can sell your own products online, other people's products for a commission (affiliate marketing) or amazon products.
Good luck.Last edited by jeffrey; 01-20-2014, 08:19 AM.

There is a lot of LEGITIMATE ways to make money online, but you have to think. Some methods will take a hour to make 25 cents, why some methods can flip you $50 in a hour, and some can even give you a residual (monthly) income, it all depends on what you want to do, there is many different ways to earn online, for example CPAs, which are websites like Swagbucks and Survey filling websites, there is PTC websites, which you are paid to click on advertisements, there is blogging and YouTubing which pays via Google Adsense, there is affiliate marketing, which is marketing that can roll in huge money if you work it correctly.

Most of us would love the opportunity to earn incomes from the comfort of our own homes but we are afraid of taking the risk of falling for a scam. Look for details and do a research. Take an informed decision. Don't pay for a job. It may take time to find the right work at home job, but proper research and knowledge will help you find a legit job.
