How to get free McDonald's Monopoly game pieces

I have a good friend that makes money each year that makes a few hundred dollars on the side selling the game pieces on eBay and Craigslist. I was wondering if there are any others out there that do this and, if so, how they secure game pieces for free / cheap to sell?

Live in the hood and you get plenty, So far, I have picked up 8 game piece from people throwing their trash on the ground. They don't peel off the game pieces.

This is going back many years but my high school was across the street from Burger King. When they would do a contest like this, the rules stated that you could get one set of game pieces per day with no purchase necessary, so every day after school, we'd stop in and get our free game pieces. We didn't sell them (that was before ebay and craigslist) but we did win a ton of prizes, mostly free food and drinks.

The point about trash picking is a good one too. Most people don't care and throw them away.

When Pepsi and MT dew were having their points programs I would collect the caps from bottle return places. They found it odd I would sweep the area for them and break down their cardboard to cut the pieces off the boxes.

Those points can easily go for 50% the price of purchasing when they have a contest. So .10 cents a point, then you can sell them for .05 a point easy on ebay, shipping is cheap cause they are often Letter/Number codes so you don't spend money getting the packaging and such. Family and friends would save them for me. It would also be handy for getting the christmas and birthday gifts as well. I got a Burton snowboard and a 6 pack mini fridge as gifts for others.
