Making money with YouTube

Is there anyone here making money with YouTube? I just started my channel 2 weeks ago.

Got a channel and have the monetize option switched on, however the vids I have up suck. To make money you need a popular video clip up. Something like game run throughs or tutorials or similar? Then spam the links on relevant forums to get the videos know.

Mainly through clicks on the ad's iirc? there may be other types of ad that pay per impression though?

If you content is good and you are able to attract enough visitors you will make decent money (eventually). However, actually making a content that people want is really hard. You have to be very creative individual and willing to work hard on it. Also don't get frustrated by initial lack of viewers. It takes a long time to develop loyal following so just keep at it.

I started my channel in July and so far I have 15 subscribers and 550 views. I wonder where I will be next year at this time?

I have a friend whose daughter is 19 and makes about $400 a month making YouTube videos. She (the daughter) is now a YouTube partner. Her videos used to be under her mom's account. She started her own channel and within a couple of weeks had 600,000 subscribers. She does makeup tutorials and is pretty good at what she does. She has been featured on Good Morning America . I think the key is to do something that you love, ignore the haters, keep making videos, always be friendly/happy, and watch your subscribers grow

I think it's great, too . She is a college student so making some money on the side really helps. BTW, I made a typo, I meant within a couple of weeks she had 600,000 views. The views are now over 1 million count. She has 17,000+ subscribers. The Youtube channel is MirellaBelleBeauty.
