Not really sure if that was the right title for this or not but....
I have X amount of funds in an RBC fund that pays about 5%; I have to move into a senior living situation since I have started to fall and live alone; the monthly cost is about $4-5,000, retirement income is about 3500 per month so I would need an extra $2,000 per month (at least since I don't want to stay home all the time). My question is about a formula that will allow me to calculate how long my inheritance would last. The formula would be something like X + .05/12X -2,000 with the result then input into x so I can figure how long it will last (if the VA survives the current administration) The VA will help with rent up to $5k per month but I can not have more than $200k in assets. It has been a very long time since I did any programming but it seems like a 'do until x ≤ 2,000' kind of problem. I have 2 different account, one of which has about $200k so the other account is the one I want to spend down
Does the question make sense? Am I asking the correct question? Any suggestions?
(yeah, it has been a long time since I visited)
