I live in a very low cost of living area compared to you guys. I"m only at 100%. *Zillow has the house a lot lower than my last appraisal I got last July for a refi.
I don't like this gameEverything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

But, that's the thing about higher cost regions. There are certainly trade-offs, and higher appreciation is generally the reward for paying more for your home. (Certainly in my experience). As such, I find "house value as percentage of income or assets" to be a completely worthless measure. But I say that living in a state with very high housing appreciation.

There's no motive behind this thread, just a quick reaction to another post on house sqft to income ratio from another poster.
Anyway, come to think of it, both threads are probably meaningless since $/sqft and value are both location dependent and so is most people's income.
