Home Phone service

I want to lower my home phone bill. I'm with AT&T for landline only, called them, and they were no help. I don't want to give up my landline since my cell service is sketchy, and I prefer the landline connection & phone on long distance calls.

I need to be educated on my options, since I haven't kept up on what's out there.

Here's what I want: unlimited long distance & local service. I like voicemail, caller id, and call-waiting, but could live without them.

I also prefer my service not be via cable/internet, since I've had issues with that service too.

Ideas?

You may have restricted yourself to Ma Bell with these preconditions.
