And, part of the problem with the OP's approach is he is setting himself up to view anyone who thinks differently about money than he does in a very negative light. So, if she spends in a "wasteful" manner on something, it is going to poison the relationship. There are lots of ways to use and handle money. Saving is one part of the equation but not the sum and total of it. If it is,you will miss the boat. Find a balance and allow yourself to enjoy the fruits of your labor as well.
