Re: Do you have a secret stash of money?

my boyfriend and i split all the bills, and we each have our own checking & savings accounts. who knows what we'll do later on.
i have checking & savings at Bank of America, and I have a savings account with ING that I opened a couple weeks ago as my "emergency fund" kind of. That's my stash -- I've set aside all the money that I don't need right now in that account, so it can get the 4.15% interest rate and I won't be tempted to touch it. (I.e. The ~$550 I'll need for car insurance in July!)

Anyway, ING is like my secret stash because it's totally separate from my checking account and would take a couple days for me to take it out.

I work as a bartender a couple of nights a week and that keeps a costant flow of notes running around the house, I should probably take better care of them and put that money into a savings account, but it works nicely for having the money around for when dh and I go for a movie or whatnot. otherwise, I don't keeo money around just to have money around.

With due respects to the married members of the board, I gleefully state that the freedom of being a single mum means I don't have to stash anything from anyone at anytime. And I rather like it.

The problem with putting your extra cash in your child's savings account, is technically, the money is theirs and not yours. I would open my own savings account.
