I can't imagine making travel arrangements [flight, hotel, conference fees, rental car & driver [overseas] without a CC. Everyone can track their CC spending on-line and know exactly how much they need to pay on cut-off day...well before the statement lands in your mail box.

Folk who are irresponsible about CC are often irresponsible about many other elements of their life but are quick to blame others for their problems.

Just did the refinance thing myself. My scores were 809, 812, 807
      The wife 821, 811, 809
I too was very happy to say the least. My friends all say I'm "cheap" because I tend to scrutinize my spending but I truly try to make the best financial decisions for my wife and kids. No I am not an expert on finance. I am a working class American with a mortgage, 3 very used cars (the newest is 2001) and a couple of credit cards but very little debt other than my mortgage. I enjoy watching Dave Ramsey and others but the lessons they teach are really not anything new. Just good basic principles about managing money. I wanted to be debt free and I did it but after that I realized you have to enjoy life too! I almost made myself and my wife crazy pinching pennies! Some debt is OK just don't go overboard. Life is about balance. Hope this helps someone. As always, I really enjoy this board and sharing with others my personal experience.
To the OP you have done and outstanding job with your finances and you should be proud! Good job!
      Peace
