    Re: Earning With Google Adsense

I agree! I am almost always interested in my ads as well. Like someone said previously, they are so advanced, yet they can't simply screen out the owner's IP address? Seems silly.

34, your situation is by far the exception rather than the rule - so is yours karnic. There are companies built on fraudulently generating adsense revenue by ultimately ripping off the advertisers who are paying. You guys obviously are not ripping anyone off - but how could google draw a line in the sand and only go after those w/ bad intentions? It would be virtually impossible.

34 - doesn't the mac have a way of copying the link location? On a PC you right click then select "Copy link location" or something to that effect.

I used to advertise on adwords and it was doing okay, but once I turned off the content portion (being published on adsense publishers's websites) and just did the search ads, my conversion ratio jumped a ton. I have good reason to believe people were clicking w/ no intention of buying. Now I don't even use adwords.

Google knows enough to cancel me if I click, shouldn't they know enough just not to give me money for those clicks?

Yeah . .. I know how to do it on a PC, but I haven't found a way to do it with Safari on OSX. (Still love my Mac though )

That's a good point 34, and maybe they'll get there with it. But for now - it's smart just not to risk it.

There are ways to get around having a static IP address. While I can see both points, I think that I would be more likely to click on an ad if I were "mildly interested" if I knew I was going to get money for it than if I was "mildly interested" on another site and not going to get money for it (just my opinion)

If you can't get the URL, all you need to do is do a search for the topic (peanut allergies) and the same ads will come up.

I see what you're saying but the opposite is actually true for me. I don't wish to click on an ad of my own if I think it might jeopardise my AdSense account.

And that's really where every AdSense publisher should be. It is not worth the few extra cents (even dollars) to possibly lose all future revenue as a result.

                  Re: Earning With Google Adsense

ERR, so when people are doing google searches, that they already do (DH has to kill down time at work someway, Dad likes to goof off, and MIL searches for car cruises) I should let those clicks go thru some one elses pocket? I am not soliciting 'hey search just 'cause', I am soliciting 'change your search base', from whatever, google home or firefox, to me.

I am not soliciting click the ads, but if I search for say adaware, from lavasoft, I click the pay link figure google was nice enough to bring it to me instantly so I don't have to remember it I can certainly get them a couple cents for it. Same with other searches for BJsstore (do NOT just type in BJs! wellless thats your thing) and all that, google does run on the basis of getting paid, by starting the search thru me, I just share the profits and I bet % wise I share a very small %!

Anyway if someone is going to get those couple of cents I would rather it was me!

Oh and my IP is not static, every time I turn it on I get a new one, or so DH tells me, so I guess they can't screen for it, DHs is not static either from work. MILs might be, but she isn't on enough to bog it down, we are not talking about billions of dollers here, we are talking a couple clicks per computer visit, which is a lot less from MIL than DH!

                    Re: Earning With Google Adsense

You're only talking about billions of dollars when taking the pay-per-click market as whole. But when an advertiser, who is paying say $100 per month for ads, out of a $200 per month budget, isn't getting legitimate visitors, that's where I have a problem.

You have a valid point that they're just searching as they normally would - but are they really? Why not just play it completely safe (and ethically completely safe) and not be walking in the gray there? Just use google's site as your base and be completely confident you are 100% in the white on it.

                      Re: Earning With Google Adsense

I think if you don't tell your MIL etc. that you get paid for clicks you're 100% in the ethical realm and certainly not in violation of the TOS.

                        Re: Earning With Google Adsense

I still think it's risky. If the loss of your entire AdSense account is something you can't afford to risk (and let's face it, it's possible) then it's not something I would do.

I am not particularly worried, I'll keep my search box.

Hey I just signed up for Adsense the other day and want to add it to my new blog, but I am not sure WHERE to add it? (I'm also new to blogger.com). Can anybody help me?

Become familiar with the template file on blogger. That's where all the stuff happens. You'll want to paste the Adsense code there - probably on the sidebar.
