We receive ours every other year, so none this year as planned. Last one was 4%.
We do however get a pretty hefty profit sharing bonus every December. 2008 profit sharing was much higher than expected, and if the first two months of 2009 are any indication, I expect 2009 profit sharing to be even better.
Nope! My company put a freeze on pay raises this year. Although they did honor our bonuses which was nice although I hate the fact that they're taxed at such a high rate but not complaining because we're lucky to even get that given this economy.
They delayed our annual merits (raises) from March to July of this year. However in July, corporate will take a last look and determine if the merits will go out or if they will forgo them entirely for the year.
I hear a lot of people b*tch about it but constantly remind them...be thankful you still have a job! Granted I'm bitter too, but I'm still here earning money to allow me to provide to my family. In this current state of economy that should almost be a "raise" in itself consider the unemployment and layoff rates.
My DH got a cola raise in January and just recently received a 2 step raise with a promotion. We knew about the promotion but wasn't sure if the raise would happen. Uncle Sam might be broke but he is still giving raises.
DH got 3% COLA in January (usually every Jan they get about that), but he finally got a "promotion", (same job, same co-workers...just new title), and he wasn't sure at first if that included a raise because he is in a manager "salary pay band" (so a level 5 get paid same as level 7). Anyway....it DID include a raise around 7%, so we actually had 10% raise combined, that is really helping us to get on track with our debt and paying it down. Hoping to have all CC paid off this year. Of course he said it could be 5 yrs before he sees another "promotion", but I said we can do quite well with this salary!
