  • GAH!!! School!

I'm just frustrated. I can not get approved for a private student loan. I don't want my mother to get a PLUS loan but that looks like my only options. I'm really really aggravated. Just totally and completely.

Can you get the first 2 years of your 4 year degree done at a community college? It will be a lot cheaper, and you could probably pay for it with cash while saving up for the last two years.

If you still need a loan, you will need less money and may get approved for the smaller amount.

Aren't the terms on PLUS loans much better than private loans? I know Suze Orman despises private student loans. She talks against them often on her show. From what little I know, the PLUS is the preferred option. I realize it means your mother is taking the loan instead of you, but that doesn't mean you can't make the payments.

      * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
      * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
      * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

The local community college has 4 campuses and the one that offers my program is the one that's 35 minutes away. The gas is just....no. Community college isn't an option.

Good point Steve. I guess I just worry about her being able to help my brother with his schooling.

Question: Do you take out a new PLUS loan every year and then the loan amount due 6 months after graduation is all four years?
