  • 2008 annual performance

    -36.29% overall

    based on:
    beginning value 167,685
    end value 124,496
    deposits 27720

    formula:
    (124,496)
    [------------------] -1= -36.29%
    (167,685+27,720)

    returns for all accounts:
    401k me -36.03%
    Roth me -36.51%
    Rollover me -38.79%
    401k wife -36.84%
    Roth wife -36.68%
    Rollover wife -46.68%

    OUCH!

A 31% return for 2009 puts portfolio back to 200k. With similar deposits this year as 2008.

-10.1% for year only because I went 75% cash back in early January. Already moved some back(20K) into equities market last week at 30% cheaper than when I bailed out. Been buying all year with fresh $$ to 401K into equities(15K) so those purchases will be low(hopefully). I have never cashed out until this year(always long). Hopefully that was a prudent decision. Hated missing all of those capital distributions at year end though! Just contributed max to mine and my wife's 2009 Roths(to be doled out back into equities by DCA) thoughout the year. Still have long range CD's at 4.75%.

          OUCH

Edited to add: Still beat the S&P 500 though (-38%)

Down about 35% but it's a little better than the market as a whole so I'm rolling with it

Down about 10% here. At least I still have a job.
