There is another thread from JC asking where to invest his income. He claims to have a family and earn over 166K. Rather impressive for an 18 year old. He may have started that thread out of curiousity, but if not, then I wonder what the true story is behind this person?

Maybe you should have read the IF part. I am actually a 17 years old and was just wondering where I would invest after the traditional outlets have been maxed out. Is there something wrong planning for the future? There is another thread from JC asking where to invest his income. He claims to have a family and earn over 166K. I am sorry I disagree with you. I could say the same thing of you. The only argument you guys ever make is the emotional plee of the breadwinner of a family becoming disabled. And if you are representative of our current youth, our educational system has truly failed us.
You don't display any signs of critical thinking and/or analysis. Hopefully, college can make up for what our public schools have lacked in.
You are just parroting Rush-speak.
You can't have freedom without responsibility - but then again, you are 18. Your biggest responsibility such far has been to clean your room and eat your veggies.
I also find it quite insulting that you compare me to rush. I listen to him for at least 15 minutes every day and if he was saying the same things that I am, then I might actually like him a little bit. Rush is just a stupid moron whose only talking point is that democrats are stupid. He is right about that but I allready know that and I find it very annoying that he never goes after his own republicans considering they are mirror images of the democrats.Last edited by jc3900; 04-23-2008, 11:31 AM.

Maybe you should have read the part where I said that you MAY have been asking that question out of curiousity. Anyway, you are 17. Why aren't you in school right now? Unless they allow you on the web in class. Do you even have a job or pay into SS yet? I think that you are living in an idealistic world. You'll figure things out when you move out and start to support yourself. You can't even vote yet, or drink, smoke, rent a car, apply for a mortgage, etc..... You need some life experience to back up your points of view. There's lots of that here if you are willing to listen to it instead of attacking everyone that disagrees with you. Good luck to you.Brian

All I am wondering is why can't our country be like it was a 100 years ago? What is so wrong with living with the government of Jefferson and Madison?
Oh and the reason I am thinking and arguing about this is because I am ten times ahead of my fellow classmates. Just so you know I am not in school a lot because I take all of my classes except one at a state university.

Totally deleted my comment as I was mucho confused. Pardon my goof, please."There is some ontological doubt as to whether it may even be possible in principle to nail down these things in the universe we're given to study." --text msg from my kid

There is nothing "wrong" with it. It just isn't the world that we live in. I am reminded of many of my professors that I had in undergrad. Many of them would preach the benefits of socialism, and how if we could live in a world like that everything would be perfect. The problem was, it is an idealist view of the way they thought that the world should be. Everything looks good on paper I guess. They didn't have any experience out in the "real world" so to speak, so they clung to their ideologies. They had no life experience to tell them otherwise. Their entire education and work experience was spent at a university reading about, discussing, and debating ideals and theories.Originally posted by jc3900 View PostAll I am wondering is why can't our country be like it was a 100 years ago? 10X ahead in book smarts is making you 10X behind in common sense and the ability to communicate effectively.Originally posted by jc3900 View PostAll I am wondering is why can't our country be like it was a 100 years ago? What is so wrong with living with the government of Jefferson and Madison?
