I only scanned the article but I think it makes sense. One thing I didn't see (but might have missed) was that with the economy in bad shape, people are buying more generics and store brands and hitting places like Aldi's more where coupons aren't an issue. Coupons are for expensive national brands so if you tighten your belt and change to store brands, you don't use as many coupons. I've also seen the trend in coupons that require you to buy multiple packages like 2 bottles of mustard. What do I need 2 bottles of mustard for? It takes us a year to use one.Steve
