Well that's genius. Then those who are financially responsible, even on a small income are punished and those who blow their money on nonessentials are rewarded.Originally posted by bjl584 View PostTechnically, she probably isn't doing anything wrong. Here in Pennsylvania, they are trying to pass a law that if you have more than X in a checking/savings account, then you don't qualify for foodstamps.
Sounds like a winning plan.

Whether she is doing anything illegal and whether she is doing anything "wrong" are two very different things IMO.Originally posted by bjl584 View PostTechnically, she probably isn't doing anything wrong.
There are lots of things that are technically legal. That doesn't make them right.Steve

Well, she WAS doing something wrong, by not reporting a change in her income or asset change within 10 days. It's too bad that this society is fast becoming one of entitlements.
It's us, here on a financial board like this, that are responsible and working hard, making hard sacrifices to pay off our debt and be financially responsible that will support these low-life's who will milk this Government for every penny they can.

Exactly. Either that, or people will just stuff money under the matress and not at a bank to make it look like they don't have any money.Originally posted by riverwed070707 View PostWell that's genius. I agree. I was just pointing out that the way the law in her state is written, she isn't breaking it. Anyone that reports a low income qualifies for foodstamps regardless of how many assets they might have. That law needs changed.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostWhether she is doing anything illegal and whether she is doing anything "wrong" are two very different things IMO.
