    I'm in for 2006!!

Good lawd this is gonna be hard for me ( I can put a nickel in a mean headlock), but I can certainly try.

Right now, I have $15.78 in my ING account. I can water that by selling my crocheted scarves and wraps.

There is something else I do every year to make extra money-- actually anyone can do it:

If you are artistically gifted, draw up a unique and fresh design for your local High School Senior Class t-shirts/sweatshirts/dog tags, etc. You can actually go here and make a professional-looking proof of your shirts and print it out. You can also have a glance at the potential cost to you. (You can also have the shirts printed up at your nearest t-shirt warehouse). Take this proof to the HS office and ask to speak to speak to the person in charge of senior activities ( it helps to be an alumni of that school).

If you don't like talking to people, print up one order of shirts with your logo or catch phrase of choice (original, of course) and try your luck on eBay. I always do very well.

Hint: Hooded sweat shirts do very well at this time of year.

    BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxmk572DHUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_39.gif' alt='Hello' border=0></a>

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL (I know I'm late! I was busy! )

I won $10 in a scratcher that mom in-law gave me for Christmas. Guess where the money goes.

    ING balance: $25.78

(Check me out! I'm saving! )

Yay! I also won $10.00 on a scratch and win, and I'm waiting until January 1 to cash it in. It's going to be my first deposit in my 2006 challenge. I'm saving all our cans and bottles to cash in then as well. Usually I just put them in recycling, but that won't be happening this year...

        I got the fever!

I'm picking up coins off the ground and everything. Got the kids bringing me coins whenever they find them in the house.

When I was a kid, I used to think old people were crazy for picking up pennies. What could get with a penny? Now I see...

          I am in trouble.

My husband was laid off for 2 weeks and it has really set us back BIG TIME. Rent is due on the 1st and we don't have it. We also can't make the car payment on time this month. And we were just feeling good about getting back to paying our bills on time, getting our credit back on track.

I might have to put this saving thing on hold for now.

Sorry to hear about that, especially at this time of year. Good luck...

Sorry to hear about this too. I can fully understand why you would not want to continue the challenge, but maybe you can use it to document how you're trying to make extra money under the current circumstances. I hope the forums can help you work through this financial set back.

Thanks for the sentiments. We definitely won't take it lying down. The forums have already given me some hope.

Just hang in there, and use all the support you will find here!

My husband and I just challenged ourselves to start saving again this last October, and we were doing great until December, when it just seemed like one thing came crashing down after another. It's hard. But you seem like a very resourceful, smart, talented person, based on the ideas and successes you've already posted. Quite a few people in these forums are fairly creative too, and can always offer suggestions to help if whatever areas you ask!

Well, as of today we are caught up with our car payments. Rent has been paid.

I'm a hustler by nature-- DH and I both are. We panic during hard times, knowing full well that we always hustle money from somewhere (100% legal I promise! )

We do the same thing. I think the panic kicks you into gear to fix it.

I am so glad for you!

I had an idea I was going to pass on to you...you mentioned the shirts and sweats selling at the holidays. How about at graduation? That would give a June and a December selling period.

One thought, not to put my nose in your business, but when I graduated with my Ph.D. AGES ago, my favorite t-shirt was

                          Ph.inisheD.

Being in school forever, it seemed, this was fabulous, bragging rights, families loved to give as well, and was really popular. Haven't seen them around since. Might be an idea.

I like that. If I do it, I'll send you a free one.

You're not being nosey at all, and I accept any advice given to me. I usually do graduations only, not holidays. I always say I will but then I get caught up doing my own holiday preparations.

It's funny you should bring that up because I'm already working on the artwork for the 2006 class shirts.
