Yes, posting them in your blog entries is probably best for now. Eventually we'll get something in place that will be a little more formal.

This sounds good! I'd like to join the chanllenge but first I must brain storm to figure out another way to make or save money.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My understanding of this challenge is that I am to put away $20 and then add to it as often as I can with money I make or save in an entirely different way then I do now. So my automatic savings doesn't count, my current change jar doesn't count, my current coupon clipping doesn't count, etc.?

Ultimately you can decide how you want to set up your challenge, but yes, the idea behind it is to use new ways to create income that you wouldn't have used had you not been doing the challenge.

I think you should be able to count coupon clipping, etc. if you take that money and save it. That is what I am doing.

I've been having problems with the coupons. Some stores refuse to take the ones printed on the computer. I believe they think it's a "copy". It's frustrating to get to the checkout and find they won't accept them. I don't buy that many processed items anyway so my savings would be very small. Unless I can find another way....... I'm brainstorming because I remember how I used to smile leaving the store years ago when coupons were everywhere.

Also, too, NY has a 5 cent deposit on most soda and beer cans. I don't avail myself because I don't drink very much of either one. I drink beer when I eat crab which is usually on special occasions (their expensive). I don't need the sugar so I don't drink soda. I sure wish water had a deposit in NY. It's only in ME. I could do that, it would be small though. I'm still thinking.

              Re: 2006 $20 Challenge Information

              Hi!

I have the same issue here, no printables allowed.

I edit the SavingAdvice coupon guide site, www.grocerycouponguide.com. I'm writing several articles on how to find great coupons. Maybe you will find some inspirations there? Also, feel free to skim through my blog category of "coupons"; none are printables!

I'm also writing up how you can receive those printables by mail, which are verified and will be accepted at the stores. This was actually going to be one of my first articles, and I promise to get to it soon!

If you want to try an experiment, though, why not join a coupon train? I'm looking at starting another in the New York area. You'd be surprised how many people have great coupons they don't need and are happy to share.

Some others have some very resouceful ideas in their blogs, too.

I think I will give this a try. Must talk with the SO about this, though, just to see what he thinks. However, I don't see any reason he would be against it, so I'm doing it anyway.

                  Good luck to all!

Whew, finally I came up with something! What is this lightbulb?

I FOUND twenty dollars the other day in the store so I now have $40. I also FOUND a penny and a quarter the other day. I'm gonna save FOUND money and 5 cent deposits on what ever I use. To date I have approx. $3.00 worth of bottles. When I go to my sons' house I clean out his recycle bin sometimes. (He thinks it's beneath me to cash in bottles) I won't be picking up anything in the neighborhood. I will also be seeking out and saving any rebates I can find.

Every one , help save more by posting your experiences with CheckOut coupons.
Checkout coupons are not as random as the store would have you believe. If we list all the Checkout coupons we have been issued, then, chances are that we can dilineate a pattern. for example: Copps/PicknSave(exp date 2 months/date of purchase on an average.) $3/pampers jumbo WYB Pampers/Luvs/Huggies $1.50/3 General

Can someone also explain to me the 20 dollar challenge? I've read the rules but I still don't quite 'get' it. Thanks!

I also signed up for daily challenges when i started my blog, any idea why I'm not getting them? Or hints on where to look?

I signed up for them but am not receiving them either. I just thought must be they're not doing them anymore?

                            Re: 2006 $20 Challenge Information

I started the challenge in Jan. with $20. anytime, I save money, I add it to a cash box. I use coupons and my store card, then add what I saved to my challenge money. If you sell something, add that money. When I stay home and don't use gas, I add $1. When I walk a mile, I add$1. Garage sales, add that money. Many sell on e bay.I get a rebate check from my credit card and I add that. I asked for a cash discount from a building supply place and I have received 2 large checks this year.
I budget $160 for my electric bill, I add what I don't spend that month, to my challenge money.
Anything that you can do to save money and put it away (real money, not just on paper) counts.
The only thing I don't count is my normal savings that I do already and interest that I get on my money market accounts.

I wonder if there will be a 2007 $20, challenge, Jeffrey??

Oh, I forgot to mention that I save all my change and turn it in once a month.
