  • New Feature - Pages

There will be some new features and changes to the blogs in the coming days/weeks. Today we're introducing one of them. Blog pages.

With blog pages you can for example create a biography page where you could add images, html, etc. You can still have a short biography on the side of your blog, but I would personally shorten it and put the link to your full bio page at the end of it. It's up to you ultimately though.

Other ideas would be to make a page listing your favorite entries you (or other bloggers) have made. If you participate in the $20 challenge, you could create a single page for that, and update it with your current totals. You could even abandon the current 'Links' feature, and make just 1 page with your favorite links on it.

To get started, go to your blog control panel, and click on 'Pages'.

cool update, but is still in progress?

    got the following error message:

    Code:
     Title

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /www/savingadvice.com/blogs/cpanel/pages.php on line 40

oops, fixed, thanks. Didn't notice it, since it only gives that error if you have no pages created yet.

SWEET! i'm not the one in charge of breaking things anymore! wait, this isn't where i work. dang, still in charge of breaking things IRL...

back on topic: created a page, it views properly in the sidebar & HTML works as expected in the textarea. able to hide page from side bar, and able to delete page since it was a silly test page and i didn't want it anymore... all in all seems to work PERFECT!!!

again, great feature addition to the blogs, nate!

nate, with the addition of the pages, i'm wondering if the sidebar could be re-arranged a bit to make it a little more useable. right now the archives are at the top, which makes it quite a scroll to get to other information for some of the more active blogs.

could teh sidebar categories be re-arranged from the current configuartion (below)? or could bloggers even be given control as to what order to show items in the sidebar?

              CURRENT
              Archives
              Categories
              My Pages
              Sites I Frequent

              MIGHT BE MORE USABLE
              My Pages
              Sites I Frequent
              Categories
              Archives

and, um, while i'm being an annoying poop head (*grin*), what are the odds that a user's control panel sidebar could be at the top when they're logged in looking at they're own blog?

you're a peach, no matter what the answer is!

Ditto what she said in the last post

plus..no spaces? I mean no line spaces, I tried to put in each of my kids in their own linea nd it is all one big paragraph.... is there a secret trick I need to know?

Also it offers a link which is a href thing..is that only for internal blog linking or something?

And how do I put pictures on the page?

                  I've turned line breaks on.

Yes it is just for your own use if you decide you want to link to the page from another (internal) page, or from one of your entries.

Good question. There isn't a tool for that yet, but if you already have an picture in a previous blog entry, you can use that same [img] code on your pages. Tool coming soon though.

I definately agree My Pages should be at the top. I'll change that right now. As for Sites I Frequent, I want to keep that at the bottom. That said though, I do plan to build something in to let you change the order of things, as everyone has their own opinion on where things should be.

Yes, good idea, i'll make that re-arrangable as well.
