  • Answering questions on blogs

I'm never quite sure how to answer questions posted to my blog. If I do it as a comment, I'm not sure the person will ever see it. Sometimes I PM the person, but that seems like it may go overboard.

I feel the same on the reverse side...sometimes I am interested to see responses/comments to a comment in another blog.

    What do you guys do?

Is there a way a person could "subscribe" to an entry, if they had posted a question on it or just were very interested in that particular blog entry?

    Re: Answering questions on blogs

Personally, I answer them as a comment. I suppose if someone cared enough, they would bookmark it and come back to read it? I also suppose that if it's urgent and dire, then I would use something else, such as a PM. But, that hasn't happened to me yet.

I don't know if there's a way to subscribe, but bookmarking would be just as effective I think.

I usually answer as a comment too, even though I am not sure the original poster will return. Although if it is a direct question (i.e. Can you tell me where you got the battery rebate?) I will PM the answer so I know they got it. If it's just a general inquiry that others might be interested in (i.e. Wow, I wonder how you manage to find those rebates) I will answer on my blog so others can see.
I have the problem of commenting on other's blogs, then forgetting to return to check their response. I wish there were a way to "subscribe" to blog responses once you make a comment to follow up on the conversation. I honestly don't have the time to comb the blogs to try to find my original comments. Often I don't even remember whose blog it was.

I like it! Not sure when I can get around to it but I can say with certainty, it will be done.

Too cool. Make an idle request.....and it gets in the pipeline!

When someone comments on my blog I get a notification in my email. Sometimes when a question is asked I just hit reply on my gmail. And then I worry that it is bad netiquiette to do that. What is the right thing to do?

I find it hard if i ask a question in a comment because then I have to go back and remember to check if it is answered.

getting notified of a comment in your blog by email is something you can turn on & off, and it defaults to off, so i'm guessing not everyone does it.

i personally don't find it bad netiquette to just email back, especially if the other person specifically asked you for a reply or seemed to have a pressing question.

I will either leave another comment, or e-mail, or post a new blog entry if it's really interesting.
