  • Kasasa banking

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with kasasa banking and can tell me more about it. I just caught a commercial on tv stating that a local bank has become part of this andmit said it offers 39% more returns! Of course, when I did a little googling, it appears the rate varies from bank to bank, but is in a range locally of about 3.5% for up to 10,000$.

I'm hesitant because they advertised it in a sketchy way (in my opinion), I've never heard of it (apparently small banks join together somehow to make it happen) and the 10,000$ limit isn't very high. Also, as far as I can tell, you have to have multiple automatic debits per month and I really only pay a few bills a month, so I might not qualify anyway.

So of course, I thought to come here to get the real scoop on kasasa. Can anyone educate me? Thanks in advance. Oh, it just so happens I'm meeting with someone from the local bank advertising this later today so I'd like to have some general knowledge before mentioning it to him so I don't get the company spiel.

It appears to be legit. A quick search turned up articles about it from CNBC, NerdWallet, and Penny Hoarder, all reputable sites.

Let us know what you learn.

Well my bank contact was running late and missed the meeting so unfortunately I didn't learn anything. I suppose I'll do a little more research. If I find out anything worth mentioning, I'll come back with an update.

      Thanks!

A local credit union has Kassasa checking. 2.5% up to $25,000. You have to make 12 credit transactions per month, direct deposit and sign in to online banking once a month.

I've had an account for 1 1/2 years and love it!

I haven't tried this, but I have read that you can make $.50 reload purchases on an Amazon gift card which would count towards the required transactions.

You may want to check out the Doctor of Credit website for more info.
