  • What is a good ETF fee? Are ETFs a good investment?

Well, I have come into an inheritance; I do not like some of the stocks I now own - specifically Hershey and some oil stocks. It has been suggested that I invest in some ETFs that follow the clean energy sector. The fees for the funds are 70 basis points - is this a good rate? Is this a good idea? (the ETF is to replace the oil stocks)

A quick Google search tells me that the average ETF fee is around 0.5%

I don't own any ETFs, but I know that there is an ETF for almost everything imaginable.
As far as a clean energy fund, I'd do my research like with anything else.
What is its history of returns?
Would your money perform better somewhere else?
A lot of the clean energy funds have taken a hit recently, so just something to consider before buying into one.

VTI. 0.03% expense ratio. Total US market.

not much to think about since you own all US stocks.

similar funds exist at fidelity, Schwab, etc.
