Hey guys, as an American abroad it has gotten harder and harder to do banking anywhere in the world. With the Patriot Act banks are using it as an excuse to deny access to banking for those of us who live abroad, my bank just sent me a letter telling me they are closing my accounts, accounts which I opened in college and have held for more than 25 years. And now with FATCA our foreign banks don't want to deal with us either. I find it ironic that we can't have a bank anywhere yet still have to pay taxes to a government that doesn't even represent us in any way shape or form, we are a group of nine million that is totally overlooked.
Anyway, ok, so I am wondering if any of you are in the same boat and how you dealt with it? Some big banks might allow it, but the address on file probably has to be a US based address. Let me know.
