I recently picked up some Netflix - NFLX. They have been extremely successful in both providing shareholder value and gaining market share. They also have some interesting ideas on corporate culture.

For example, they let employees take as much vacation time as they need, and they only hire A players.

About 5% of my position was purchased premerger in January of this year when I bought a basket of international oil stocks that ONLY had conventional onshore production (which is lowest cost oil) at a time when oil hit $28/bbl which was equivalent to past historicial maximum correction level from past price cycles.

Bought the remaining shares post merger on occasions of corrections given my high cash level needed a return and in my experience when it comes to resource stocks China seem to always come through on follow through of a merger.

I have been interested in finding merger arbitrage situations ever since 2015 when my cash level ballooned from selling shares and really having trouble finding worthy contrarian candidates that allowed some share diversification for replacement and some of my digging has yielded decent opportunities.

If you can believe it last year Metallico MEA a metals recycler and another China derived deal offered at one point 50% price discount a month before the deal paid out (600% annualized)and Oando Energy Resources ONDOF this year had a 30% discount share price to the merger price only a week before the payment.

For your information, I am holding the following equities:

Amazon.com (AMZN) - they are moving into automotives and grocery delivery, so its probably a good long term buy.

Coca Cola (KO) - Coke is the the worlds best recognized soft drink brand. Plus Americans love sugary fizzy drinks.

American Express (AMEX) - AMEX is losing out in the credit card wars, but they still have time to get their business operations back on top.

Disney (DIS) - Disney should improve earnings now that they've purchased star wars.

Facebook (FB) - Facebook is the best of the social networking software out there.

McDonalds (MCD) - Americans love cheap burgers.

Microsoft Corp (MSFT) - Apple aside, Windows dominates the operating system market. The new CEO seems to be doing a better job than Balmer.

Starbucks (SBUX) - They buy beans for 10 cents and sell coffee for 1 dollar.

Target Corp (TGT) - Good brand, great long term growth.
I am holding few share like HCL, Infosis, IBM etc.

Picking a merger candidate before it happens is really by pure chance. All you can do is increase your probabilities by knowing a sector well and finding value within it.

What I am saying is there are still potential gains to be made from post merger announcement deals if well researched.

NVDA shot up 30% today after the earnings were released yesterday and it crushed the estimates. The shares I purchased in January are now up 190%, which is crazy. The general consensus is that it will continue to grow. I will still cash in some earnings in January, but will keep some shares for the long haul.

401K and ROTH are set to autopilot with a couple index funds.
I do have a Robinhood account that I like to play around with though.

Here is a snapshot of that account:

              ACAD
              CRSP
              ENPH
              LC
              LGCY
              NTLA
              SQ
              TSLA

              This changes almost daily.

                  My investments are in:
Realty Income Corporation (NYSE:O) takes pride in calling itself “a monthly dividend company.” With 553 consecutive monthly dividend payments since 1969, this REIT is part of the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index.

EPR Properties (NYSE:EPR) is also a REIT with a more focused investment approach, targeting only entertainment, outdoor recreation, and education assets.

Shaw Communications Inc., (TSE: SJR) serves 3.2 million customers, mostly in Western Canada. Its customer base includes 1.9 million internet subscribers and more than one million Shaw Home Phone customers, supported by 860,000 kilometers of company-owned fiber line. Through its subsidiary Wind Mobile, Shaw provides mobile services in urban areas of British Columbia, Alberta, and Southern Ontario.

Aside from the retirement accounts, I own BIOC, ZYGA, KMI, and BMY.

The 3 for 1 reverse split crushed my cost basis for BIOC, but I'm making it back slowly. I bought 500 more shares yesterday and it went up 50% today. I'm sure it will go back down but I'm in for the long haul. I'm hoping for a takeover. I'm considering sell all the others in the next month or two to capture gains.
