  • Mortgages for foreigners

Hi, I'm hoping somemone can be of help.

I a non-US national and am wanting to know where I should be looking to obtain an investment mortgage or at least where I should be digging to get a better understanding of the mortgage concept in the USA.

A quick background: I've been looking to invest in the US for the last few years and have been offered an investment property in Atlanta, Georgia which I am keen on as the numbers look good. I have been to Atlanta twice in the past (for leisure purposes), and I do realise that there are parts of the Georgia which aren't the most favourable, but I am not looking for that advice here. I'm looking for a US based broker that can provide suitable lending to non-US citizens. My realtor isn't a specialist when it comes to this, so any pointers here would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ali

    Ali-Beda,

If you are a U.S. resident, there are no differences in the mortgage process. If you don't reside in the USA, conventional lenders will face obstacles verifying your employment and credit history. Your probable best source of info on this could be a real estate broker that is familiar with selling property to non-US folks. Try googling it and see.

    Good luck,
