  • Next year's 401(k) contribution limit: still $17,500

    The contribution limit for 401(k)s will remain unchanged at $17,500 next year, the IRS announced Thursday.

    IRA contribution limit remains at $5,500, also.

      That's the one that annoys me. If you've got a 401k, you get to put away $17,500 but if you don't, you only get to save $5,500. Never seemed fair, especially since I don't have a 401k.

      At least my wife hits 50 this year so we got the extra $1,000 and I get to do it starting next year.

        Oh, there are plenty of other things that annoy me. Like some being able to contribute $50,000 to a solo 401K or being able to fund both a 401K and a 457 with $17,500 each! (who came up with that bright idea?)

          You could start an employer plan.
