  • CHICAGO high-yield savings needed

looking for something higher than Ally's high-yield (0.84%). This will be a second tier EF. Options include:

First Northern CU checking - 2.5% APY up to $7500
    Alliant CU - 0.95% APY
Great Lakes CU - 4.0% APY up to $15,000 but many requirements including ten debit card purchases per month, $250 in deposits, and at least one login.

    thanks

I am also in metro chicago and I do NOT know of any higher rates than you have quoted.

I follow several web sites & blogs: bankrate, deposit accounts and fat wallet finance.

Checkingfinder.com appears to have some Chicago banks with reasonably decent savings rates. As someone who used a high rate bank paying 5% (and now 2.5%) I'll tell you that debit transactions, online statement, ~3 bill pays, and a paycheck deposit is basically ubiquitous and expected from a high interest checking accounts.
