  • ALLY Bank. multiple accounts bad?

I have an ally bank online savings account that I put money into every week. But id like to have categories (vacation, car, extra, etc.) like Ing direct offers. So I asked ally bank rep if they offer that. He said yes, I just need to open multiple accounts that i can nickname. But will that loook bad on my credit or fico or whatever? He said no they don't share that with credit bureau.

Not sure about smart piggy...I already have BECU as primary bank. Ally as my online savings. Don't want to open another if I don't need.

Checking and savings accounts do not affect your credit score.

SIDE NOTE: You should inform yourself about what is on your credit report by getting a free credit report every year from each of the 3 agencies at www.annualcreditreport.com. I recommend you get 1 report every 4 months.

Online savings account because it offers higher rate than my porr 0.50% rate at BECU savings.
Plus I really want smart piggies category savings account, just not sure if they are solid and the best to go with. At ALLY BANK it has been a great experience. High interest rates, and best of all Live Chat with no wait time.

Bank accounts don't affect your credit score. The only possible affect would be if Ally checks your credit to approve you for an account. Just ask before opening multiple accounts, but I don't think this is the case.

The only bank account that has pulled my score was Orange checking from ING. They pulled my score because instead of doing overdraft fees they have an overdraft line of credit, so if I had overdrafted it would function like a credit card. The fact that they were going to do so was clearly stated in the information about opening the account.

So unless Ally does a hard pull, open all the accounts you want.

Strange too because I think it was only a few months ago that they raised it from 2.01% to 2.15%

I use 1 account but I keep multiple sub accounts in it. I just keep the information on hard copy in a three-ring binder.
