  • Any perspective on the market outlook or performance of INTC ticker

I have been owning INTC for about 2 years. Not really happy about its perfomance and the future of that sector. Read last week in Wall Street Journal that they are purchasing this networking business in Europe?

    Any perspective?

It's a great blue chip tech stock. Also, the hottest trends these days is going small. Netbooks, tablets, and don't forget smartphones as well. Intel (along with Qualcomm and Texas Instruments) are in the forefront of the mobile CPU development.

I think Intel is on an acquisition spree lately, but I'm not sure. To be honest, I don't keep track of this particular one. I am also not sure what you mean by not happy about its performance, because the past 2 months has been pretty hard on the stock market as a whole, not just individual companies like INTC. Furthermore, parent companies often take a short term hit when they acquire another company.

I think the best perspective to have here is to view it from your portfolio's point of view, and not really from a stock valuation point of view. You have to ask yourself if this is the kind of stock that you want to be holding, relative to the rest of your portfolio, or perhaps, asking yourself whether any individual stocks at all are for you. If not, that's OK, just get rid of it. But if so, then just hang on to it because I think INTC is a pretty good stock to be holding.

    But that's just my opinion.

I currently like INTC as a good long term buy below $18.25.

It may be counter-intuitive, but I feel like I can predict shorter term price movements of stocks in certain situations, rather than the 1-2 year prediction you are asking for...

Somewhat no-brainer stuff like buying tech stocks leading up to the CES

        2011 International CES, January 6-9

or buying biotech stocks leading into the various conferences, (like buying cancer stocks leading into the ASCO conference)

but as far as a 2 year, or 5 year prediction of a stock like INTC? I have not the faintest idea...

        g

        p.s. hope that helps

Given historical support, I believe there is lower risk buying at this price point.
I would adjust this price figure based on charts or news.
