Ballmer reiterates interest in Yahoo talks - Yahoo! Finance

It looks like Microsoft appears interested again in acquiring Yahoo. If this is true the stock price could potentially shot up to 30s like it before. The stock then subsided back to low teens after Jerry Yang didn't want the deal.

At the current price it's pretty attractive. What do you guys think?

    Interesting!

It's no secret that Ballmer wants to be able to go toe-to-toe with Google, so Yahoo remains an attractive acquisition. And with Yang out of the way, and Google still dominating the search engine space, perhaps a deal is possible now.

I'm personally not into tech, but if I wanted to play aggressively, right now, I have to say YHOO looks very enticing!

Same here...i'm looking to be aggressive in the internet search space. With so many stocks battered like oracle and yahoo, this space might take off again.

There is 0 chance microsoft would offer anywhere near what it did for yahoo last year. First of all, the deal was part cash and part msft stock, back when microsoft was in the 30s (i think). With microsoft trading at ~$17, think more of an offer around $16 to $18 a share, maybe max of 20. If they finally say no, I think yahoo could go to $6 to $8. But what do I know...I sold the citibank shares I bought at $1 for only $1.41...they were over $3 today

if microsoft offered the same amount of stock and cash as the original deal it would only be worth $24-25/share, and i doubt they would make an offer as good as that, given recent events.

if it wasn't for the possiblity of microsoft buying yahoo, I wouldn't touch yahoo with a ten foot pole. fortunately microsoft pretty much has to buy yahoo, if it wants a chance to compete against google. and microsoft would love to hurt a potential rival's core business, so I think microsoft will put in a some sort of offer to get at least yahoo's search business. what sort impact this has on yahoo's share price, i don't know but I think some of it is already priced in.
