Howdy,
I'm trying to map out my wife's 403b account, and I just thought that I'd run it by the board to see what you guys think of things.
On one hand, I'm very tempted to dump it 100% into one of their "Freedom Funds," (they're these "target date" funds that adjust allocations to get more and more conservative as they approach a specific date), but they're kind of expensive (expense ratio of .8%).
My wife is 25 years old and just starting work. She's very risk-averse because she doesn't know a lot about these sorts of things and is terrified about ever having less money in her account than she put in (never mind that in the long term, she will be in the black, but anyway, i digress). As such, I'm looking at the following as a sort of "put it and leave it" solution, to be adjusted maybe once every 5 years or so - I'm not interested in micro-managing.
Without further ado, here's my idea:
15% - Fidelity Municiple Income Bond Fund
(hxxp://personal.fidelity.com/products/funds/mfl_frame.shtml?31608950)
5% - some money market fund
60% - Spartan U.S. Equity Index Fund
(hxxp://personal.fidelity.com/products/funds/mfl_frame.shtml?315911206)
20% - Spartan International Index Fund
(hxxp://personal.fidelity.com/products/funds/mfl_frame.shtml?315911602)
Thoughts? Comments Suggestions? I'm new to all of this stuff, so go easy on me.
Also, I can't post links
