Where is the Bank Deals blog getting that information from? The AmTrust Direct site still lists the rate as 5.30% APY for balances from $1. link

Ooo, interesting. They must have changed it back. I looked at that page 20 minutes ago and it showed the tiered rates as Banking Guy reported. Perhaps AmTrust changed their minds once the onslaught of complaints and withdrawals began?

I called AmTrust. They said that this was in error. The rate is 5.30% APY for all accounts and that they have no intention of adjusting to a tiered rate scale anytime soon.

Ok. Possibly an old version of their rate scale got pushed to their web site. And once the calls started coming in, someone hurriedly fixed the problem.

Yeah well as soon as i saw the rate change i put a transfer towards my other account and then they changed it back. I then called and they said it was an error but now i cant cancel my transfer.
