New 5.15% online account AmTrust Direct

I just got an email from amtrustdirect.com (I have a CD with them). They are introducing a new money market account currently paying 5.15% with a $1 minimum. It is not an introductory rate but is the regular rate.

I've dealt with them for a few months now and their customer service is excellent.

Just thought folks might be interested. They are the online arm of a bank in Ohio.

Hmm. It looks like there is a $1000 minimum to open the account, but after that, you can have as little as a $1 with no minimum balance fees or reduced APY.

I just read the ad in my paper. My local bank is offereing a money market account paying 5.25%. Now I can get a great rate and still stay in my home town!!

It is the appalachian Community Bank. BUT,I forgot to mention that you need a minimum of $50,000 to get that rate!

Ouch. $50k sounds a bit too much to just tie on up a MMA. Well, for me anyways, since I can't speak for everyone.
