  • How do you narrow down your insurance plan choices?

I'm working on getting us coverage through our state marketplace. There are 80 plans to choose from. When I filter it for just Silver plans, it drops to 44. About half of them would cost more than we're paying on COBRA so those are out but that still leaves about 18 or so to pick from. Some are not marketplace plans so I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons of those and just overall how to compare the different plans. It was so much easier at work where we had just a few options. My daughter just picked her 2024 coverage today and had 3 choices, not 20.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Got ours set up last week. We work through a local insurance agency that specializes in ACA insurance and Medicare supplement plans. We could have chosen from over 20, but our rep. showed us about five she thought would work and be the best deals and we wound up with the exact same plan and carrier as last year, a bronze plan through Caresource at approx. $785 / month for spouse and myself.

Initially I started looking online thinking I could do it myself and found it to be a horribly confusing nightmare. Also got bombarded with emails, texts and calls for a couple months following that fiasco.

Find a local insurance navigator that specializes in this stuff.

I'll have to ask on our local FB group if anyone has someone they recommend.

It's really tough to understand even coming from a medical background. You need insurance experience
