For those of us who receive therapy for sleep apnea via CPAP machine, I wasn't thinking about this! So, earlier this year, 3G cellular networks were decommissioned in the US. The bandwidth is being repurposed and so devices which rely on a 3G connection will no longer be able to send/receive data. Some of the victims of the decommissioning were older models of Onstar telematics devices in GM vehicles, users of very old cellphones, and the like.
...And, also, many CPAP machines manufactured in the last 5 years which still send sleep data/usage/compliance information over 3G networks. This compliance data is important for healthcare providers, insurers, and for the CPAP user who may need to track that data for commercial vehicle driver's licenses and other health requirements.
My machine stopped sending data in March of this year when AT&T shut off their network. Now, my sleep provider is asking me to either drive the data card to their office to be read, or send it via USPS to them. (If only we'd solved the logistical issue of sending electronic data to others!).
Anyhoo... just writing this to commiserate with other people who had an "oh, DUH!" moment and realized they can no longer get data off their CPAP machines. Additional cost/effort is now required as a result of this change, which is unfortunate.
