    Re: This month's budget buster

I needed new tires last month. They cost $1200. They are the kind that can not go flat because my car is designed not to have a spare, not even a temp. spare.

First ever repairs on my 2002 car. $1100, aaaaaaacccccck. Had to charge it. Got frequent flyer miles or points or cashback or whatever. It will take a bite out of the ol' emergency fund.

        Re: This month's budget buster

We went on vacation for 2 weeks this year. Spent 1 week at the ocean. Then, my sister and her family wanted to meet for a few days the following week at a big amusement park. So, add hotel, food, and gas to that. And, I also bought a wooden playset for the kids for $400 and assembled it myself. But, everything is paid off though I sometimes wonder if we should have skipped all that and put it into retirement funds instead!

                    Re: This month's budget buster

Oh, I had replied for July's budget buster. August budget buster is my brother's wedding, which DH, myself, and ds1 are in. Most stuff has already been paid for (dress, shoes, shower, bachelorette and bachelor parties), but I still have to get haircuts for DH and the boys, an updo for me, and a gift, of course!
We are also going camping for a week, but that has been paid for. The only expense will be the food, but since we have a fridge/stove in the cabin (yeah, I know, we're really roughing it), it shouldn't be much more than regular grocery expenses.

Mine is school, I am taking a tax preparation course and a land surveying course for work. Work will reimburse me for the class but it is 90 miles away so gas will factor into the budget here for the next 4 months.

Luckily we have been saving all summer for DS's school tuition so there is plenty set aside for that.

August 2 and I already have an unexpected expense!

My cat had bloody stool last week and I cant determine if he still has it or not (kitty litter diving is not fun) so Im taking him to the vet tonight.

That cat costs me more than the average cat, Im sure. Last ER visit was because he ate a container of neosporin.

                        He's lucky I love him

                          Re: This month's budget buster

Well, we were going to buy a piece of property to build our next spec house. The cost is $80,000. I was going to have to draw out 20% ($16,000) for the down payment if we got a mortgage on it.
I think we have decided that is too much for a lot without a real great view, so we are going to build on one we bought for ourselves. I think land prices might come down a little.

I forgot one of July's Budget busters...A new tire! I ran over something that killed a tire, and it couldn't be patched it had to be replaced $50.00 I didn't really have to spend.

I know the Aug one will be the electric bill for running the fans alot in our 5 days at 100 heat wave!

I am getting all the bills for the colonoscopy I had. Over $1000 to the hospital, $350 to the doctor and $500 to the pathologist!! Not fun!
