Two seater, 3 cylinder car gets 46 mpg in city and 69 mpg on highway with top speed of 84 mph. Yahoo article says price will be under $15,000 but smartcar website shows base models starting at just over $7,000. The car looks funky and is 9 feet long. Would anyone here buy this car for gas savings? I have to say it looks bit too unconventional for my taste.

If the American auto companies are planning on offering really small cars, they should at least go electric like this Think City manufactured by FORD, but sold everywhere but America:

I would definitely support electric car. I don't know why GM stopped EV lease program years back but I think this is definitely the ripe market for something like that. I have been getting emails from group called CalCars who is trying to get car companies to manufacture plug in hybrids and they say they get 100 miles plus on gallon of gas:

But on the positive side though, you can park this thing perpendicular to the curb and still not have tail end sticking out. Large SUVs have width longer than the whole length of this car. This will come in handy on the NYC streets.
