Re: Im curious how many of you on this site....

I just joined this site last night. My reason for being here is because we're not making it paycheck to paycheck. If we didn't have so many debts we would be okay and be able to put money up in savings. My goal for being here is to get ideas on saving and frugality until we can finally get all our debts paid off and be more comfortable.

Glad you joined, I think you will learn a lot. It is nice to have all debts paid for and a savings goal started. Maybe you could join us in the $20 challenge!!

I could be less frugal and be fine, i suppose, but I enjoy frugality. Even prior to my Minimum Wage Challenge I was still living blow my means. I enjoy getting value out of a dollar. I enjoy making more conscious decisions about my lifestyle and habits and what I consume.

I think frugality has a lot of good values that surpass finances; less wasteful, good for environment, delayed gratification, gratitude, honest labor.

I have no debt, however I do not own a house, and have not gotten my investing/retirement plan down, so I have a lot of room fopr improvement. Being frugal may allow me to buy a house in California-right now even in my rural county proces are just ridiculous. $250k for a starter....

$250K is about what a starter house is going for here, also.

We don't have to be as frugal as we are, but I guess I am very insecure. I want to be able to pay all our bills on a single income- the lowest of the two. We are close to that now.

That is very good, we went from being a two income family to one income about 15 years ago. I think my dh enjoys having me home at night instead of working. I did not bring in very much income and I had a long drive on a mountain road to make every night!

I come to this site to learn any which way I can to save a buck or two. We are a large family of 7 and yes, we live paycheck to paycheck. It's scary to live this way and i'm hoping by following some of the great ideas and watching our budget closely we will eventually be on the other side of the fence. The money saving side!! We have 5 kids, ranging in ages from 2-15 and me and hubby both work, and we have to stretch our incomes BIG TIME! Both hubby and I put together only make about $40,000 a year!! It's tough, it seems everytime we turn around we're having to shell out money for this and that, BUT, i'm proud to say, we're making it and slowly putting some money into savings!!

I come to this site because I am on a very low-wage. I guess I'm living pay-check to paycheck but because I'm frugal I don't worry as much anymore. I know what I can afford, and I try to save money on things where I can.

Re: Im curious how many of you on this site....

I looked back on our last eight years and realized how much money we blew. We could have done so much more. We weren't able to afford a wedding for so long, I finally decided to start saving for one and we were just married on a five day cruise. We paid for our parents and my grandparents to cruise with us. After the wedding we were pretty much broke again. We spent so much money on stuff that didn't matter.
That's what gets me the most. I'ts all the stuff we buy that has little or no value.

When my son was small I did it because I absolutley had to. When I started making better money it was so much fun to buy, buy, buy!!! I guess because I was never able to do it before. So foolish. We are constantly bombarded from every angle to give some company our hard earned money .

I just really want to get in a better financial position and start investing. It takes money to make money. I do think it is a game for me. It's fun to watch your balance grow. It feels really good to beat the greedy corporations at their own game whenever possible. Our goal is to buy a second house within 2 to 5 years. Thanks for this site.
