  • Favorite $1-10 treat

Actually, lrjohson got me thinking about this on her min.wage challenge. She blogged how small treats are even sweeter when you don't have them very often. So true!

There are so many FREE treats in life...but I am wondering what your non-free, but frugal treats are.

I love candles, my morning coffee, lavendar fabric softener, and in the winter- a nice warm fuzzy soft pair of socks....

I have to confess, I am also hoping to find favorites in this price range that I can use for stocking stuffer ideas too...(yes, I realize its just the beginning of June...but there are lots of summer sales coming up and I hope to take advantage of some of them!)

Favorite non free, under $10 treats?

I treat myself to some kind of latte at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks once in a while. Otherwise I try to drink the coffee at work, or make it at home and bring it with me. That's my big treat, because I looooove coffee :-)

I like the dollar store for cheap treats. My DS2 like the animals you can get there as well as bags of bugs and stuff. I look through their DVD's and occasionally find one I enjoy. one year I made a bag with several $1.00 videos, bags of microwave popcorn, and an empty soda bottle with two dollars in it for a chinese auction item. I put it in a paper grocery bag and the teens loved it. I buy shower gel and bubble bath there for stockings. If I am buying for a teen I get emory boards, nail polish, and other girly stuff. For a guy I check out the tools, like picture hanging kits, once I got a great level there, but usually its small stuff or packs of nails and stuff.

My favorite treat is going out for ice cream on a hot summer night...but that wouldn't work too well for a stocking stuffer
I also love really good dark chocolate and raspberry-chocolate covered coffee beans (NOT cheap!). I like to get lottery tickets once in a while for gifts only because I will NEVER buy them for myself!

A $2 bag of catnip. Keeps me and my cats very amused for quite a while.

A milkshake..it is homemade, not sure the actual cost, but the ingredients to make 3 batches of icecream cost about 10$ so it is less than that at least. course it wont fit in a stocking..well it woudl fit, but might make a big mess by christmas morning!

Anything chocolate. I love fudge, m and m's, even the russell stover sugar free candy. When I went to Fla., I bought some chocolate covered cookies from France!! They are so good!

Someone gave me a Dunkin Donut gift card over the holidays, so i was getting pretty used to have an obscenely expenisve at $3.99 smoothie during the day at work.

Otherwise, i love an impromptu ice cream cone from the dairy farm down the road, all homemade on the premises, the only dairy farm left in our county.

Don't know why, but it's only during the holidays that starbucks offers Joy tea, which i really like too.

Luckily, i'm not in the habit of picking up snacks or drinks cus it does add up, but i do it when i have gift cards.

I use to pig out on eggnog at christmas time. Problem was, dh doesn't like it, so I drink it all. When I was young and skinny, I use to drink a quart a day. After I gained about 10 pounds that month, I quit!!

Fresh flowers. I can usually get them pretty cheap at my grocery store, and they make my apartment look really pretty.

favorite cheap treats... def the ice cream.... and occasionally i love vietnamese iced coffee... we make it at home... bought an expresso/coffee combo machine at a yard sale for $7 just because we love our coffee espresso strong... so you make expresso, add sweetened condensed milk to taste and drink warm or pour over ice for a chilled version... i love it iced... taste just like the thai coffee starbucks sells only much, much cheaper...
as for stocking stuffers, i know people like giving candles, bath and beauty products, etc... unfortunately lotions and things don't work for me as they can cause my skin to break out...
gifts i would love to find would mostly be food items, fruits, nuts, cheese, sausage, chocolate, etc.... and practical things like rubber bands... am always losing/stretching out hair ties and am always in need of more...
i like microfiber washclothes for my face... they are just so gentle and soft and also absorb well without irritating my skin...
gift cards to places i would never go or places i always go... DH's little sister gave us starbucks and longs drug store for my birthday... oohh... i just thought of this... you could always give a gift certificate for an ice cream place =)... yum...

Cappuccinos or breves, but only once or twice (if it's raining) a week.

Magazines, but very seldom. They have to be new-to-me, and rare enough to not find at a library.

Ice cream once a week in the summer.

I love funky pens and notebooks.

DVDs or video rentals are always special.

You can't put this in a stocking but here goes for one of my favorite treats.

Put frozen pineapple chunks/or frozen strawberries in a food processor. Add a little water and a few spoonfuls of dry fat free coffee creamer. Mix it til its smooth and creamy. Delicious and low fat!

As for stocking stuffers, how about a bumper sticker created specially for them?
Go to makestickers.com and create something fun! You can even use your own pictures !
You can buy one or 100's! That site is so much fun!
