If you don't want to buy the book check out this site. It's basically the same info on cooking, though the gazette has lots of other great money saving ideas, it's been fun to try and do it.
This came from someone on this site, just another thread, so I thought I'd put it here for you. Also this site is good for cooking and freezing to make things easy.
Today I looked at the online checking account. It said we put $55 in gas into the 1999 Ford Explorer that I owe 8 Gz on. Had to get another gallon of milk and cream cheese. I am a breadman supervisor so I get all the bread goods I want so I took home some bagels and texas toast. The final payment of 71.00 came out for Lowes. New washer and dryer a year ago. Took advantage of a year no intrest on that. Have the Neptune washer and superduty dryer. Will never have to buy either of those again. I pay bi-weekly on my rental so really I have no cash flow form that. Plus the tenants are super. They have 3 kids, do yearly agreements, and credit is so bad from previous divorces that they can't buy a home. If they ever moved out I could probly get a lot more a month.
Just wanted to let you know that I still have that buck. Cause i am gonna need it my bank account is the lowest it has ever been. Long Long road ahead.
ok you say you have everything anyone would ever want. I think that maybe ebay could be your next bext friend? I don't think going bankrupt is ethical to your debtors when you ahve property and possessions.
Okay, here are some ideas, all thanks to the tightwas gazette. Listent to those that apply, through out the ones that don't.
1. Use half the laundry degrent the box says, even less if you have soft water. This also applies to dish detergent, shampoo and any other cleaning product/soap.
2. Cut dryer sheets in half, or better yet, hang dry your clothes.
3. IF you kids are still in diapers, get cloth ones and use them. (Really it's not that bad.)
4. Get use to powdered milk instead of gallon milk. (Yes this can be a little hard, but think of it as an aquired taste. You can at least use it for cooking and cereal where you will not notice the difference.)
5. Generic...generic...generic....Less expensive and generally just as good.
6. Price book....learn where each food item is the least expensive and buy in bulk where possible.
7. Get rid of all paper products. No more paper plates, paper towels, etc. (Personally, I draw the line at TP, but I know there are those people who don't, personal call.)
8. For now, no new clothes, but when you have to, thrift stores and garage sales only.
9. Try living without cable for a month and see if by the end of the month you really do need it. Many find the first few weeks hard, but after a month or two, they don't miss it.
10. Have you considered selling items you have to pick up a little extra cash to make it through the next few months. A good cleaning purge feels good and a garage sale can bring in enough money to get by for a little while.
Okay, enough for now. If you want more ideas let me know.
I don't have anthing but clothes that I could sell. I moved a year ago and got rid of anything that I was not going to use within a years time. I did however start cleaning out the garagee due to bordem. I find with no money my time is spent a million times better.
Thanks for all the support. By Christmas I will have the car and the card paid off. Watch me.
Well guys and gals I actually left town for a weekend and budgeted rather well. See this is supposed to be my one week vacation this week but cause I am on a debt free mission I gave it up for the actual cash. I left Medford Oregon went to Sacramento then to the Bay Area then to South Lake Tahoe. I never did see a casino in Tahoe and for me that alone is a great accomplishment.
So with the extra $1200 I put it all on the principal of my 99 Ford Explorer debt. Only 514,000 to go.
way to go Benny.... you are on your way.........just create a plan and stick to it, no matter what happens....things always have a way of working themselves out.....
