  • Update on Improving the Forums

    Hello everyone!

Good morning - or evening, depending on where you are

I wanted to drop in and give you all an update on some work the SA team has been doing to improve the forums. We have been working closely with a web designer to update the entire site (without changing too much about how it looks). To make the site mobile-friendly, and to significantly improve the experience in the forums, we will be updated the forums to a newer version. This will change a few small things in the way the forums may appear. There may also be a few functions that move locations.

In the transition process, myself and James, with the help of our designer, will be able to provide answers to any questions you have. We will also be listening for any feedback you may have on the new forums environment.

We will keep you updated here as to when this will be happening. The forums may be down for an hour or two around that time. For now, let us know if you have any questions

Email me with any details you have. It may be a good idea to set up a quick phone meeting to discuss.

    Thanks
    Brian

Are the blogs going to be overhauled? The blogs will continue to be maintained correct?

I wish we could add an "all other" area to discuss news, current events, politics, etc., but it would likely need to be actively moderated.

The user blogs will remain as is - we just had to make them mobile friendly.

Thanks for the announcement. I won't be too weirded out when I see changes.

              Mobile friendly?

It seems that 90% of the time anymore, I'm getting on here primarily on my phone.

Even more so, hopefully! The new mobile-friendly version will be much more responsive on your cell or tablet.

Thanks, everyone, for the support and excitement!

I access the boards on my phone all the time. I don't have any trouble with that the way it is but if the new version is better somehow, I'm all in favor.

Most of the "issues" I have with the current format is just little things, like constantly having to zoom in & out to navigate or read threads. Everything works fine (except for the Emojis that quit working for some reason ~a month or two ago).

As another member who frequents the forums via mobile when I'm out / filling time, I'm super excited for any improvements to the responsive site. Nice one!

Both of these issues will be resolved in the updates. The responsive version will fit your phone WAY better and all of the button, emojis, etc. will be updated as well
