  • When did everyone become so angry?

What's the culprit? Is it social media? Is it politics? Are people struggling more than ever before? Mentally, financially. Dollar isn't go as far? No one can afford a home?

Everything is so heated. My team vs their team mentality. Or, is this all an illusion and everyone is extremely happy?

I know politics must play a part. I don't understand why people are so passionate about people that do not care about you. They don't know who you are, they don't care who you are...yet people worship these "leaders." Try to remember that next time your fighting with a family member or typing multiple paragraphs online to prove a point that will always fall on deaf ears. These people do not care about you.

Road rage. I've seen people almost kill each other in cars for the dumbest stuff. Literally, to get a car length ahead. People risk spending the rest of their lives in jail. I drive more than most and its a jungle out there.

Social media. This site for example. People love to argue. Do users get enjoyment with arguing? I know on other financial sites, politics are an absolute no go, and it's heavily moderated. Zero tolerance. Even on those sites, users will get jabs in and try to make a point, or put someone down.

No one can seem to disagree anymore and still be "friends." If you don't agree with someone it seems like you're now on the outside and moving forward, it's all about one upping the other.

Maybe it's environmental factors and everyone is losing their minds. I know the topic comes up a lot now of plastics being in everything. Could that possibly affecting everyone's brains? I wouldn't rule it out.

I don't know. There are a bunch of things to be thankful for. It's hard to remind ourselves of that. We're all more alike than not. And yes, I know that sounds corny AF.

People are irrational about their own irrationality. They get emotionally invested in whatever opinion they hold, and will die on that hill rather than admit that they're wrong, mistaken, or misunderstanding the facts/circumstances. Nobody likes to be wrong.

Problem is that the news media, politicians, "influencers", and "thought leaders" (not to mention foreign nations) are stoking the fires of anger to drive people to the extremes in order to build their base of support, influence, and power.

I agree with you -- there's a whole lot more that we all agree upon than we disagree about. Even for those hot-button issues that get people riled up, there's alot more of a spectrum of opinion than they want. They try to test people apart & send you to the fringes, because you're more reliable or there. They're really just afraid that you'll back them on certain things but jump ship to another "side" on other issues. There's nothing environmental or accidental about the partisanship & anger & ferocity. It's intentional & targeted. Unless/until good people stop saying nothing, it'll only get worse.

At the base of it all, we are animals, and a tribal animal at that.

We have been misplaced from small groups foraging and gathering in forest and have been placed into cages made of bars we created for ourselves.

We want to make sure "we" have enough not only for the coming winter, but for the 30 winters which will follow when we are no longer producing.

When the worst news you ever hear is of a guy getting bit by a snake 5 miles away, but instead you now hear about every natural disaster and war event around the country, around the world.

The best we can do is improve ourselves to withstand the attacks, real or perceived of others. Personally I recommend Meditations by Marcus Aurelius as a good read.

A majority of people are convinced the price of gas and eggs are standing between them and achieving greatness. The lack of civility and overall anger in those circles is astounding.
            History will judge the complicit.

My personal focus is on numbers and facts. What any of us think, including what I think, is secondary to whatever is the actual truth. So, I stay out of most discussions.

I don't have a problem with people wanting to discuss anything under the sun, but again, that's not what I'd normally like to spend my time and energy focusing on.

I will say. I haven't noticed a lot of riots like in 2016. What happened? No BLM rioting, no me too pink hat marches. Why aren't people taking to the streets this time? It's a good thing. Have people focused their anger individually instead of in person and large groups?
