Why is this site so slow?

I know it’s not my device because every other site loads immediately. This site takes several seconds to load.

My best guess (not being a site admin/tech) would be that it's driven by site security scripts running in the background to help prevent malicious/otherwise undesired bots & such. IP validation, cookie authentication, and other stuff. Another very likely possibility could also just be that there's a slowdown on whatever server is hosting the site (whether momentary or due to overload issues).

FWIW, I haven't noticed this site to be dramatically slower in loading compared to other sites.

This site has been noticeably slow for me until very recently. I am not sure what is going on either.

Just speculation, but it is possible that there might be internet traffic jams (read: DDoS, accidentally or otherwise) but who knows? Given the kick up in holidays, especially the elections, perhaps storms or whatnot, and... where is this server based again? Hopefully not a personal PC sitting in somebody's basement or bathroom, but any combination of things could be causing a traffic jam as well.

Guys - the reason the site is slow is because the back end software hasn't been updated in a while. We have a tech on this job, but its likely to take a couple of days.

I’m slow at login. Once i get past that, everything seems normal.

I'm okay on the desktop but on my phone, there's a 5-10 second lag between when I open the site and when the page loads.

James, the past couple of days the site is hardly functioning for me. Pages will load incompletely, cutting off in the middle of a post. Or everything loads except the section at the bottom for me to add a reply. I have to reload the page 2 or 3 times before it loads correctly.

This is not on my end because everything else is working perfectly. Your tech team needs to get their ass in gear.

Currently, I can see the blog titles, but when I click on anything beyond that, regardless of whom, it shows a complete blank page.

Do you still have issues on the site load speed? I have cleared the cache on the server to make sure you'll get the latest updates from the site.

Yes. The main page works like before. However, any link I click after that are completely blank.

When I click the link again, even that main page is now blank. However, when I close that tab, open a new tab, and check the link again, then it comes up again, but any further clicks and it's blank. Perhaps the issue is on my end? I am running FIrefox with uBlock Origin and UltraWideo.

Edit: Ok I double checked the blogs with Microsoft Edge, and it is indeed working no Edge, but not on my Firefox. So the issue is, at the very least, on my end.

Maybe you can try to disabled the extensions from your Firefox browser and clear the cookies and cache. If still won't work on Firefox, maybe try a fresh install if possible.

Just FYI, but I've disabled all my extensions, and it still didn't work. The crazy thing is, the blogs worked on my Firefox and the included extensions in the past. It all just stopped working one day without any changes on my end.

It is also possible that Mozilla might have made some changes to their Gecko engine to cause this discrepancy. It's pure conjecture though.

Either way, so long as I have some way to make it work, it's fine. So, feel free to shelf this to the bottom of you workload pile if you wish.
