    We just cut the cord - we were paying $150 a month for Directv.

    Our new choices were between YoutubeTV, Hulu TV Live, and DirecTV now.

    All in the $30-$40 range. We went with Hulu TV as the channel selection is slightly better than youtube and it has DVR which DirecTV now doesnt have YET.

      For the sports fan thinking about signing up for Spectrum's TV Choice no Fox Sports Prime or Fox Sports West is listed as a channel choice but I've come to find out that I just needed to download Fox Sports Go onto my Roku, verify it with the Spectrum code and now I have Clippers basketball (Fox Sports Prime) and Angels baseball (Fox Sports West). Being a sports fan myself this is outstanding. Clippers & Angels are losing teams better than not having it. On a side note I lost Lakers & Dodgers with Spectrum's TV Choice

            QMM - can you spill the beans? How did you get such a good price? We're paying something like $50.99 just for internet alone.

              I wish we could get something like that! We are renting an apartment and most apartments (if not at all, at this point) in the city require you to pay wifi and cable in your rent. Because of this, we can't shop around really. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this when we get into a house though!

                ELP = Everyday low Price.

                James I’m grandfathered into the ELP $14.99 internet price when it was Time Warner Cable Company. When Spectrum took over they raised the internet to $45 per month. I think it’s just a matter of time before Spectrum says I’ll have to pay $45.

                  My Nana was lucky enough to get roped into that too - and she calls every time they try to raise it because TW promised her that price for life... and she intends on getting it haha.

                      My dad is currently looking at cutting satellite and going streaming like we have. I haven't paid for cable/satellite in years. My dad is paying around $130 for phone, internet, and direct TV. However, the special rate is going off in a couple months(+$20), and he has had a terrible experience with his internet. ATT U-verse is rather new in our area but still has been bad. Down a lot and speed isn't ever what he pays for. Now, he is planning to go cable. For about the same price he is paying for 18mb DSL, he can have 100mb cable, and he is planning to go all streaming.

                      We have Amazon Prime that we split (some family merge option they have, full prime privileges per account for the price of one). T-mobile gives me free Netflix. So between everything, we would share Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and nearly 600 movies on Vudu/google play and growing(family sharing with my brother, we collect movie codes for cheap). He mostly watches Hulu, but he is looking at adding a tv streaming option like sling or Hulu live tv. By the time he is done paying for all the options he wants, he won't be saving a ton (maybe 20-30/month), but he will have the internet speed he wants.

                      As a side note, I'm very interested in what T-mobile is going to do with Layer3TV this year. My guess is they will be the best option (until others mimic whatever they do). It will be all internet based. One of the things they advertised was that they acknowledged that you either had to pay way too much for stuff you don't want (packages on cable and satellite), or cherry pick from a bunch of services and manage all the accounts. The fact that he addressed the cherry pick part (what we are doing with netflix, hulu, etc) makes me think they will have a service that will merge it all together under one roof...maybe. I hope he plans to work with netflix and hulu, and have some software that just syncs it all together(like TV Guide, but includes all the streaming services you subscribe to), and not try to compete directly. That wouldn't make sense.
                      Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

                        If this new form of Spectrum works with tivos, I'd be all for it, I could easily live with 10 channels. My family likes HBO and Showtime, HBO has an app thru tivo and showtime has an internet app so we wouldn't be missing those. But my dear old dad loves all kinds of weird cable, he could never live with 10 channels even though he is slowly adapting to Netflix and Amazon. We would save so much money if we switched to this. I'm gonna start broaching the subject that our cable/internet/landline costs double our electric and gas bill and perhaps it's time to cut the cord.
