Mexico is night & day compared to USA. In 1 minute you can drive from USA into Mexico. It takes 5 hours driving from Mexico into USA. Pedestrian crossing is the same. In Mexico they have drug dogs w/the trainers but not sure why it's needed. Often the dog is laying down with the trainer leaning against a wall holding the leash. In USA every person in line gets sniffed by the dogs. The pedestrian line is Mexico moves fast. From USA soil to Mexico soil on foot takes 5 minutes. From Mexico's soil to USA takes 3 hours. But with Senti or Global entry 20 minutes to 30 minutes on foot. Speaking of fruits once CBP (customs & border patrol) found an apple in my backpack and confiscated it which is great that they caught it and I had totally forgot about it. They are good at what they do.

Funny that it's just the opposite with flying. Leaving the US to fly to Mexico you've got the standard TSA procedure. Take off your shoes and belt, put everything in bins and make sure to separate your shoes and your electronic devices and your liquids and walk past the dog first also. Leaving Mexico to fly to the US there's none of that. Just toss your bag in a bin and head through the scanner. No need to remove any clothing or take anything out of your bag and no dog search.

I have brought my own food on an airplane. I bring my fruit peeled and cut for less mess. I have also brought trail mix. I have brought a tuna salad kit (can of tuna salad, crackers, and can of fruit), but not on a plane, as the smell would probably not be popular. Another thing I did was that I brought a foil pack of Safe Catch tuna along on my trip. I found a McDonald's in the airport and bought a green salad with a salad dressing and iced tea. I added my tuna and had a great lunch. Having food allergies and sensitivities means that I must work to bring some food myself and be flexible. I have not found that airport security has had any serious problem with me bring some food in my carry on and it has saved me a lot of money.

Liquids over 3 oz definitely get flagged and tossed so a full water bottle, frozen or not, would never get through around here.
That I will agree with. I arrive at the airport with an empty water bottle and refill it in the airport after going through security.
