I've never heard of this, but your information is everywhere. Removing it all would be near impossible.

Browers like DuckDuckGo will give you anonymous internet browsing. That might be an option.
They have a browser on the dark web as well. That's about as anonymous as you can get on the internet.

DuckDuckGo is NOT a VPN but even a VPN doesn't solve the problem Myrdale is trying to address. That helps keep anyone from tracking your browsing activity but as we've said, all of your personal information is already out there. You can't fix that no matter what steps you take now or going forward. It's done. Your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, mother's maiden name, SSN, etc. are all out there already. You can't reverse that.

I'll play devil's advocate and side w/myrdale for instance I mark as spam my junk emails but it always returns and doing so doesn't work for me. In fact, it seems to come back with a vengeance when I do that. Maybe the paid email subscription works but I use the free gmail and yahoo email accounts.

After my last post here I’ve been “unsubscribing “ to junk emails as opposed to marking it as spam and noticed less spam in my emails.

Did you read the link I gave in post #6. Hitting unsubscribe can actually worsen the problem. Marking as spam is the preferred way to deal with that stuff.

I generally go with the rule of legitimacy -- if I know it's a legit company that I've had dealings with in the past & would have added me to their mailing lists as a result, I'll unsubscribe ... which normally works. If it's obviously spammy, something I've never interacted with, or otherwise, it just gets marked spam & ignored.

                That’s exactly right.

Ok I’ll follow those guidelines from now. I used to get about 20 - 40 junk emails a day within 4 email accounts, now maybe 5 - 10 junk emails within those 4 email acts.

Also marking it as Spam on my mobile device doesn’t seem to work as effectively as on my laptop for some strange reason. The laptop seems to be more effective.

I have always been suspicious about hitting unsubscribe. You're clicking a link in a junk email. If I was looking to do harm, the unsubscribe link / button is where I would set the trap.

You're right and I never thought about that. I'll need to be more discerning when doing that.

Question about marking spam and or unsubscribing to bank junk emails such as low introductory rates but if I have an account at that bank will the good emails also stop.

It depends. Sometimes when you click to unsubscribe it brings up a menu of options where you pick which things you want and don't want and you can opt out of marketing emails. Sometimes it's just an all or nothing choice. With a bank, I would expect there to be choices.

I noticed that where some sites gave me the option to check boxes and select which things I can control and stop, other sites didn't give me the options to pick and choose. At any rate my spam emails have reduced greatly. This thread has been very helpful.
