...and you know what all of our credit is frozen. I wonder if that will cause a problem? I already have a Schwab account thru work so I'll probably be ok but the kids don't have existing accounts and I've frozen their credit because of hacking they were involved in. Anyone know anything about that? I'll be out more money unfreezing and refreezing, ugh.

I lost about $75 worth of food while I was sick with the flu last week and my husband forgot how to cook, plus the money wasted on fast food instead of cooking. I can understand not roasting the turkey, but how hard is it to grill some steaks or use the lunch meat for sandwiches?

Thank you! I am feeling better. All that is left is a nagging cough. The good news is that I lost about 10 pounds, so I can't complain too much!

Sorry to hear this. That sort of thing is always rough. It sounds like the kids are grown up so that helps. My insane ex initially got custody of my boys, I fired my lawyer and went back on my own to get custody. We had our meeting before a mediator and his lawyer was with him and I was alone. The ding dong as we were discussing this issue back and forth and his lawyer not giving an inch, opened up his mouth and said "I don't care where they live I just want custody." The mediator rolled her eyes and I knew things were going my way and his lawyer looked like he could kill his client. What a stupidly subtle way to say, I don't care where they live, who feeds them or anything else about them, I just want that cash every month!! I walked out of the meeting with joint custody and no one paying anything.

I also loved the part where my lawyer told me what my meager settlement would be and then handed me a bill that took pretty much everything but my share of his pension.

But I'm sorry to hear this as I know what a tough situation that you are finding yourself in. Lots of emotions churning things.

Our leaf blower broke (again!) bought a new one for $129. I swear every other year ours breaks and we need a new one. I'm so tired of the crap they make now a days!

Paid a contractor $3500 to tile my bathroom in a remodel (in a separate rant post). The shower pan pools up water on one side, and the contractor isn't responding to my calls to redo anymore. I already paid him since I thought the job was done until I saw the huge flaw. Since I'll have to hire it out again to probably rip out the bottom half of shower, Its probably going to be another few grand in labor alone.

The contractor is also my exes family friend. The moral of the story, never pay the full amount until you know the job is complete. As well as never break up with your girlfriend until the job is complete.

Getting divorced. Robbed myself of a great friend and partner, lost about $500,000 in real estate and ten years of wealth building.

The summer of my discontent

This is easily the most expensive summer on record for us.

I took my cats in for their check up. The bill was $550 and that doesn't include any vaccines. The old cat needed lab work and the young cat has a mast cell tumor and some dental problems, so the bill was just for blood work and a biopsy. Her surgery for the teeth and tumor was yesterday, which was another $1,000. I found two more bumps on my dog that seem to be growing, so I will have them check them out at her next appt, which is the 16th.

Those damn coins are still giving me fits. Now he wants all new coin holders and a new computer because the old cases have some chemical in them and the laptop is too slow to catalog the coins. I told him he can buy whatever he wants if he sells enough coins to pay for it, which did not go over well. He is getting a small bonus in a few weeks that I had earmarked for a new mattress for our daughter and savings toward a new car, but I'm sure it is already spent in his mind on coin crap.

My parents and sister are staying with us while their floors are refinished. I also had my two nieces stay for a few days, so the house was full. I am astonished at how much it costs to feed 8 people. I'm also amazed at how much coffee my parents drink. I've already blown through 2 months worth of coffee, and we still have several days to go. I'm so tired! As soon as I clean up breakfast, it is time to start cooking for lunch, and then dinner.

Add up the cost of school registration, the exchange students, and back to school clothes that my daughter is already starting to outgrow, and it has been very expensive these few weeks.

Hot rodding a car, $20,000 got put into that thing such as cam, pistons, carbuerators, gears, rims, clutches, nitros system, etc. in the end the car sat disabled in the yard and I sold it for $500. Worst investment ever.
