One carton got picked up yesterday. The other 2 someone asked for but then never replied to my messages to arrange pickup. I listed them on the Freebie app yesterday but no repsonses yet. I'll give it until Wednesday and then they're getting recycled, so one way or another, that will be 3 more cartons out of the garage.

I've done a little more in the basement this week. I cleared a number of items off the pantry shelves that were past date (by a lot). I also tossed a few other things down there. Every little bit helps.

I went through my closet, with a clear head. When I was finished, about half of my clothes had been removed. Stuff that didn't fit, gone. Stuff that was worn out, gone. Stuff I don't wear but hangs around for some weird emotional attachment, GONE. I kept just a few newer/nicer pieces of my "normal" size which I'm getting back to, slowly. The reality is, if/(when) I reach that again, I'll want new stuff anyway. Everything remaining was sorted, organized, neatly folded, and hung according to type and color.

Damn that felt good. The back of my Jeep is literally FULL of clothes, some of which will be donated, and the other to recycling.

      History will judge the complicit.

It does feel good to clean out the old stuff you don't need and make room for something new, or just new-ish. Congrats!

I did some more in my basement after lunch today. I cleared off nearly one whole shelf. Several items got trashed and a couple came up to be listed on ebay. I also vacuumed 2 other shelves so that I can start using them for ebay storage.

It isn't decluttering but while I was down there, I changed the heater filter, cleaned the dehumidifer, vacuumed the lint trap of the dryer, and vacuumed the basement floor.

The things you can accomplish when you don't have to work every day .

I did a brief bit in the garage today. Got several things into the recycling bin and a couple into the trash. Added a couple of things to the Goodwill box. Not a lot of progress but it all counts.

It's a beautiful fall day here so I took advantage of the weather to work in the garage a bit. I went through a large carton of Disney items, dividing them into keep and sell piles with most of the stuff going in the sell pile. I went through an even larger carton of old board games and found a couple worth selling. The rest will go to Goodwill or to the trash. I brought in 3 old family photo albums and I went through those while watching TV. I pulled out people pictures, made sure they were labeled with place and date, and tossed the rest. The empty albums went in the Goodwill pile. I also moved 11 totes of china from the garage to the basement. Those will get donated next year to our temple rummage sale. Our friend who runs the sale wants them but can't store them. I just didn't want them sucking up garage space anymore.

I just loaded 21 articles of clothing in to the back of my car that I'll drop off at Goodwill tomorrow. These were extra "wear-in-to-the-office-to-sit-at-a-desk" type clothes that I was hanging on to just in case. But now I know I won't be wearing them ever again (and haven't for 5 years or more)! Bye-bye hard pants and fussy blouses!

                  Well done.

It’s funny because just the other day I was in my closet looking at all of my long sleeve dress shirts. I almost never wear them because I only wear short sleeve shirts to work. About the only time I put one on is if we’re going to a special affair (wedding, Bar Mitzvah, funeral, High Holy Day services) and I’m wearing a suit. Once I retire I probably only need to keep a handful of them. I think I have about 40 so 30 can probably go to Goodwill.

                    Thanks!
It sounds like you could let those 30 shirts go now! Or if that's too much, maybe 20?

Yep. I just hadn’t given it a thought previously. Maybe when we get back from our trip. We are literally on a plane to Mexico as I type this post.

I recently acquired a new jar to put my cooking spatulas in from the New to You and Reuse it Shop. I think it was 50 cents. Woo-Hoo! I got rid of a different glass jar/vase that I was using for the same purpose, but it was too small to be useful for that.
