  • How many miles are on your car?

Most of us here buy cars for the long-term, so I was wondering what everyone here is currently driving and if there are any plans to replace anything anytime soon.

Here are the stats for our household:

    2016 Ford F350, 103,000 miles
    2017 Toyota Rav4, 91,000 miles
2006 Scion XA, 186,000 miles (beater car)

All the above are paid off with no plans to replace any of them

    2015 Chevy 2500 87,000 (my daily driver)
    2015 BMW Z4 28,000 (fun car)
    2019 BMW X3 34,000 (DW daily driver)

All paid off. Plan is to replace the truck in 3 years, but it should go many more than that. We're retired so we don't put a lot of miles on our cars anymore.

With the nutty car market these days, the longer they last, the better.

      2017 VW Golf, ~72K miles.

DW has a 2017 Honda Pilot, but no idea how many miles it has... Probably a comparable number, give or take 10K.

We have no intention of replacing either car for at least another 3-5 years... When we do, they'll probably end up being something electric, or at least gas/electric hybrids in some form.

2018 Dodge journey, 78,000 miles, paid off (bought new $16,999 + tax & license). Maybe in 5 years will get a Jeep Cherokee gas burner (no electric) because I live in an apartment unless I can just run an extension cord from an ordinary 120 volt regular electrical outlet.

          2017 Chevy Plug-In Hybrid 63,000
          2017 Chevy EV 48,000
          2003 Pontiac Vibe ~197,000 (kids' car - 16yo & 18yo share)

We have always paid cash for used cars. We are very much in the "new to us" stage (purchased 2018/2020) with the plan to drive another 10+ years.

The obvious exception is the kids' car but it's also got a lot of years left in it.

2020 Silverado... 2,900 miles. I bought this new mid-way through 2021. Paid cash for it. We have a few other cars but they are hobby/fun, and a motorhome. I'm a "car guy".

Both my husband and I used to put about 25-30k miles (each) on a car every year, so this situation of virtually putting no miles on a car is a new thing for us. It's kind of nice not eating up a car every few years just for work. The Silverado sits in my shop with a nice coat of wax on the hood and spends more time on a battery tender than it does on the road!
            History will judge the complicit.

Just estimating but these numbers should be pretty close.

              2018 Toyota Camry (mine): 29,000
              2011 Toyota Sienna (wife's): 97,000
              2010 Hyundai Accent (daughter's): 78,000

The Accent is probably nearing the end of it's life, not due to mileage but just age in general. There have already been a couple of repairs we chose not to make due to the cost and they weren't critical issues. If anything big happens, it will be time to replace it rather than spend a lot to fix it.

              * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
              * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
              * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

                2021 Toyota Tacoma 33,000

I purchased the Tacoma in November 2020 at which time I traded in my faithful 2002 Yellow Nissan Frontier Desert Runner with 319,000.
